4th Meeting of the Friends of the Museum of Russian Culture, February 27, 2010


Museum President N. A. Koretsky stated that equipment for scanning unique archival materials had been acquired using contributions gathered in recent years. He expressed special thanks to Irina and Nicholas Dragomiretzky, who are painstakingly preparing digital copies.

M. Menialenko presented the large-format multi-volume architectural encyclopedia by G. V. Baranovsky which had belonged to civil engineer V. A. Planson.

Y. Franquien told about the results of his investigation to identify a group photograph of members of the Extraordinary Military and Diplomatic Mission sent to China in February of 1920 by Ataman A. I. Dutov.

Another unique find at our archive is a document personally signed by Admiral A. V. Kolchak.

Y. Franquien donated to the Museum an album of rare postcards from the end of the 19th Century – beginning of the 20th Century devoted to Vladivostok.

Museum friends G. V. Kumansky and L. Krassovskaya mentioned some potential new materials for the archive. G. V. Kumansky made a present to the Museum of an original copy of the 1904 Imperial Manifesto of Emperor Nicholas II regarding Russia’s entry into war with Japan.

Russian Federation Ambassador S. I. Kisliak and Consul V. N. Vinokurov paid a brief visit to the Museum during the meeting.
