16th Meeting of the Friends of the Museum of Russian Culture, March 29, 2014

At the meeting’s start the Museum received as a gift from A. A. Kondrashov a unique photograph of the family of General N. P. Zlobin.

The results of recent research by Museum associates were presented in the form of two lectures.

Anna Ivanovskaya reported on the collection of the censor Count P. I. Kapnist, the history of the Kapnist family, and their influence on the Russian Empire’s cultural life.

Mikhail Tolstoy related the story of his search for information about V. F. Kibalchich, a choir director and conductor who had successfully presented concerts in Europe and the USA between 1912 and 1930. A portrait bust of him made by S. T. Konenkov is housed in the archive of the Museum of Russian Culture in San Francisco.

Both lectures were illustrated with archival documents and photographs.
